WALTHER 1001-0 .380 ACP

Description:
Guns Listing ID: 712388

The Walther 1001-0 (also known as Pistole 1001-0 or P1001-0) is an unlicensed East German clone of the classic Walther PP (Polizeipistole) semi-automatic pistol.
Background and History

Produced in East Germany (DDR) at the Ernst Thälmann Werke (in the Suhl/Zella-Mehlis area) from roughly 1953 to 1957.
It was developed using salvaged tooling, drawings, and leftover parts from the original Walther factory in Zella-Mehlis after WWII.
Factory code 1001, with the full designation 1001-0.
Intended for military, police, and security forces in the DDR before the Soviet-designed Makarov PM (in 9x18mm) became standard.
Total production: Approximately 20,000 pistols.

Design and Specifications

Caliber: .32 ACP (7.65×17mm Browning)
Action: Blowback-operated, double-action/single-action (DA/SA) semi-automatic
Barrel Length: Approximately 3.8–4 inches (97 mm)
Overall Length: About 170 mm (6.7 inches)
Weight: Around 0.67 kg (about 23–24 oz) unloaded
Capacity: Typically 8 rounds (standard for Walther PP pattern)
Sights: Fixed iron sights
Finish: Brushed blue or similar
Grips: Checkered dark composite (plastic) grips
Safety: Standard Walther-style manual safety (often with a decocker function on the PP pattern)

It is mechanically very similar to the original Walther PP, with a straightforward blowback system, slide-mounted safety, and classic European pocket-pistol ergonomics.
Markings and Identification

Slide markings usually include \"1001-0 cal 7.65\" or similar.
East German proof marks (Suhl area).
Many examples imported to the U.S. (often via Hämmerli in the 1980s) feature added \"Zella-Mehlis, Germany\" and \"ac\" (a fake WWII-era Walther code) roll marks on the slide for market appeal. These are not original Walther markings.

Reputation and Collectibility
The 1001-0 is a scarce Cold War relic. Collectors value it for its historical significance as an East German \"secret\" Walther clone, even though it is not a true Walther product. Quality is generally good for the era, using a mix of new and surplus parts. It functions reliably as a .32 ACP blowback pistol but is more of a historical curiosity than a modern shooter due to its age and caliber.
Today, these pistols are relatively rare on the U.S. market and command collector prices depending on condition. As with any vintage firearm, condition, matching numbers, and provenance significantly affect value. Always handle responsibly and comply with all applicable laws.

Comes with two original serialized mags and one Mac Gar.
