Scarce, beautiful original condition Walther M1936 Olympia, standard features with seldom seen Eagle/N proofing, complete with original counterweight.
Description:
Standard configuration M1936 Olympia with adjustable front and rear sights, 7.5”barrel. Marked on left side of slide Walther Banner, “Waffenfabrik Walther Zella-Mehlis (Thur.)/Walther’s Patent”, “Olympia-Pistole”. SN on left side of slide, behind serrations, and on left tang. Right side of slide marked “CAL.22 long rifle”. Eagle/N proof marks on right side of slide, frame boss and barrel that is equipped with a rectangular counterweight tightened with a single allenhead screw. Checkered wood grips. Bakelite bottom magazine is unmarked. PROVENANCE: Previously owned and white-highlighted by Warren Buxton who had photographed this pistol for inclusion in his still-unpublished book.
Condition:
At least 98-99% bright original glossy blue with same condition applying to the front strap. Heavily varnished grips with light oil staining and a scattering of superficial dings consistent with careful use. Comparable condition counterweight and magazine. Mirror bright bore with sharp rifling. Perfect manual mechanics. A great no excuse Nazi era Walther Olympia that would grace any collection of target or WWII era pistols.
