Walther Model 9 Vest Pocket Pistol - Type I, 6.35mm Semiautomatic Pistol
Description: Walther Model 9 Vest Pocket Pistol – Type I, 6.35mm Semiautomatic Pistol According to the Internet article, “Walther Model 9 Variations” by Earl Mount, an estimated 250,000 Walther Model 9 were manufactured from 1924 until the factory was close in May, 1945. According to the article, “During the first four years of production, from 1921 through around 1924, approximately 127,000 Type I Model 9’s were made.” The serial number range for the Type I was 410,000 (1921) to 537xxx (1924). Thus, the year of manufacture of this gun was probably 1921. The left side of the slide is stamped with “Walther Patent Mod . 9.” with the Walther logo just below. The right side of the slide is stamped with “Waffenfabrik Walther Zella-Mehlis (Thür.)”. The crown-over-N appears on the left side of the slide just below the word Waffenfabrik. The crown-over-N appears again just below that on the frame. The overall length of the pistol is 4 inches. The overall height is 2.75 inches. Its weight with an unloaded magazine is 9 ounces. The condition of this gun is 95- percent. The bluing shows little wear. However, the bluing on both sides of the slide shows some discoloration (indicative of a rust-bluing aging), and the very front of both sides of the slide shows some reddish color that appears to be patina and is smooth to the touch; it is NOT rust. There is what appears to be a scrape on the left side of the slide, just above the forward portion of the trigger guard, but is probably a blemish in the bluing, as it is smooth to the touch. There is also what appears to be a scrape on the frame forward of the trigger guard and below the muzzle, but once again, it is smooth to the touch and probably a blemish. There is definitely a scrape where the safety lever was moved back and forth between S to F. There appears to be some old rust damage to the serrates on both sides of the rear of the slide. The original Walther plastic grip panels are near perfect, except the blue grip retention medallions on both grips are a little tarnished due to age. The right panel grip retention medallion showing “6.35” is upside down. It can probably be turned, but I'll let the new owner do that, as I do not have the tool. The gun comes with one magazine. There are no other papers or other accessories. The photos are high resolution, so zoom to see details. Please excuse the oil smears in the photos. Contact me for additional photos of any area you would like to see or see better. The buyer pays $25 for USPS Priority mail and $9.55 for USPS insurance. Per the USPS , insurance is calculated at $9.55 for the first $600, plus $1.40 for each additional $100, rounded up. I will accept a personal check which I will hold until it clears. I will also accept a USPS money order which I do not have to hold, as it clears immediately. The fastest way to get this gun is to pay with USPS (U.S. Postal Service) money orders, as they are like cash, and I don’t have to wait for them to clear. However, I will accept a personal check or another type money order, but I will hold the gun until it clears my bank; this includes bank checks and cashier’s checks. Check or money orders must be made out to Jerry Pownall. If you need to contact me, I am available any time, except Friday evenings and Saturdays. I will return calls and emails Saturday evening.
