Incredible Walther P38 S, made by Georg von Stavenhagen in 1972, made with wartime and post war Walther parts, with extensive sport/target modifications, arguably the most elaborate customized P38 extant, total production fewer than 20 pistols, SN: 10. Cal: 9mmP. This example with 4” barrel having a sleeved/ramped white dotted front sight bordered with protective ears and an elaborate windage adjustable rear sight fixed to remanufactured loaded indicator cover. Attractive upgraded hammer with a serrated top piece and checkered grasping surface. Serrated trigger fitted with trigger stop. Refined safety that functions properly without decocking. Walnut grips with wrap around checkering. Slide with post war address modified to reflect Mod S (Stavenhagen). Frame #10 proofed 72. Major components with high polish salt blue, small parts gold plated. Standard post war P38 magazine marked with Walther Banner P1 9mm.
Condition:
Approximately 96-97% bright original salt blue, the majority of wear reflected by thinning of front strap and a few scattered handling marks on grips, the left panel having a small chip on the lower edge as photographed. Mirror bright bore. Perfect manual mechanics. An absolutely phenomenal P38 pistol, reflecting the highest order crafstmanship, a virtually one of a kind gun!
