The PPK itself was a development of the PP model, introduced in 1929 and the first successful double action pistol. The PPK was imported into the U.S. until 1968 due to the passage of the Gun Control Act of that year. To pass the restrictions imposed by the Gun Control Act of 1968, Walther essentially combined the slide of PPK with the frame of a PP model. This also had the benefit of adding an extra round to the capacity of the pistol compared to the PPK. The PPK/S Premier Gold Edition is a special version of the pistol of which only 400 were produced to commemorate125 years of Walther as a firearms manufacturer. It features extensive engraving and a 24K gold eagle on the slide. The grips are a set of specially engraved rosewood. This pistol is unfired and comes with its original box, paperwork, and two magazines, one with the finger extension. There is a small factory error in the finish on the bottom of the trigger guard. Running a finger along it, the is no discernable difference between it and the rest of the surface, hence why it is being treated as an error in the finish. Some Flitz polishing compound would likely solve the issue. The paperwork does include the Repair Order Completion notice for when the pistol was sent back to Smith & Wesson (who had manufacture and distribution rights from Walther at that time) due to a recall. This pistol would make an excellent addition to any Walther collection.
