CHARLES LANCASTER 12 BORE SXS SPORTING GUN * CASED SN 13135. 28 inch solid rib barrels choked improved modified and 1/4 choke. Extractors. 2 1/2 inch chambers. Single brass bead front sight on a concave solid rib marked with a solid gold inlay 1 amid light scroll engraving at the breech. The rear action, upper tang, forearm latch assembly and sideplates are case hardened while remainder is blue. The action, topbreak lever, trigger guard and tangs are fully floral engraved. Both sides of the action are marked C. LANCASTER LONDON in banners and the sideplates are marked CHARLES LANCASTER. Tang Safety. Double triggers. Checkered forearm and straight grip stock with an initial oval and checkered bare buttstock of Highly figured English walnut with matching forearm. Nice gun trunk case. Leather with brown vevlet cushioned interior. CUSTOM MADE LION LEATHER PRODUCTS. Two locks on each side.
THE ORIGINAL CHARLES LANCASTER WAS A BARREL MAKER FOR BOTH JOHN MANTON AND THE FIRST JAMES PURDEY. HIS GUNS ARE CONSIDERED TO BE LONDON BEST.
