Description:
CHARLES BOSWELL 12 BORE BOXLOCK EJECTOR SXS SPORTING GUN * CASED SN 15185. The scalloped action with full coverage English rose and scroll engraving marked CHARLES BOSWELL on both sides. 28 inch nitro prooved for 3 tons steel barrels marked CHARLES BOSWELL MAKER ST. MARTIN LONDON, W.C. choked true cylinder in both. The straight handed English walnut stock with a 13 1/2 inch pull to an EMR red rubber recoil pad with full checkering and drop points. Matching fore arm with engraved metal and push button release. All contained in its makers canvas covered single gun case with its period maker's label. Case has light green canvas and dark leather ends. Brass locks and corners. Leather straps and handles. Lable reads CHARLES BOSWELL, PRACTICAL, BREECHLOADING GUN AND RIFLE, MANUFACTURER, 126 STRAND, LONDON W.C.
Condition: Very good to excelland with strong barrel blueing and nice patina on the action. The wood with very little wear.
Charles Boswell, gunmaker, 1869-1955. In 1884 the business of building fine guns was moved to 126, Strand, London where it remained until 1914. It was sold to Cogswell & Harrison in 1957 and continues today with Malin, U.S.A.
