I AM IN THE PROCESS OF LIQUIDATING MY 50+ YEAR ANTIQUE FIREARMS COLLECTION ! I HAVE A W.P. JONES 12 BORE BOXLOCK EJECTOR SXS SPORTING GUN * CASED SN 14483. 30 inch Damascus barrels. Game rib marked W.P. JONES, PATENTEE, 25 WHITTALL ST. BIRMINGHAM, WINNER OF FIELD TRIALS. Case hardened boxlock action 60-70% engraved with fine foliate scroll and bouquest. Ejectors. Greener style crossbolt and side safety. W.P. JONES in gold on top lever. Finely checkered half pistol grip stock of well figured walnut. Round knob. Horn buttplate. Vacant silver oval. Finely checkered splinter fore end with Deeley style release and metal tip. Canvas covered trunk case with leather trim and single brass lock. Red baize interior with leather makers label and pattern card numbered to gun.
CONDITION: Very Good, as partially redone. Barrels show 60-70% rebrowned finish. Top rib is loose. Bright bores show some scratches. Action shows a silver patina with 15-20% case colors. Stock shows handling marks. Fore end shows handling marks. Case is in very good condition. Canvas shows some fading. Trim shows scuffing and losses. Handle is loose at one end. Interior in fine condition.
William P. Jones, was at 25 Whittall Street, Birmingham from 1891-1935. He was the son of William Jones, Gun & Riflemaker, 86 Litchfield Street, Birmingham (d.1828). I AM NOW IN THE PROCESS OF LIQUIDATING MY 50+ YEAR ANTIQUE SPORTING GUN COLLECTION.
