CONFEDERATE WILLIAM GLAZE MODEL 1840 PALMETTO ARMORY CAVALRY SWORD MARKED RWZ. 35 inch curved blade with wide fullers. Brass three element handguard marked RWZ & IIXXXX stamped on the shell with brass Phrigian cap. Plain wood grip with a small amount of brass wire bindings remaining.
Condition: Relic with no markings remaining visible on blade which is heavilly pitted. Brass handguard in good condition with even patina. Wood grip cracked with a piece missing.
PROVENANCE: This sword was recovered from an old carriage in downtown Columbia, South Carolina near the site of the Palmetto Arsenal.
