THIS IS AN IMMAN MEFFERT 16 BORE PINFIRE SXS SPORTING GUN NVSN. Circa 1870. 31 1/2 inch Damascus steel barrels marked " IMMAN MEFFERT in SUHL" in gold on top rib, profusely engraved round action and back-action locks. Germanic scroll and floral engraving of game scenes with gold inlays, sculpted dolphin hammers, double triggers, horn triggerguard and underlever. European circassian walnut stock with ckeekpiece, engraved steel buttplate, sling swivels Overall length 47 1/4 inches.
Condition: Excellant. Totally original in construction and finish with nice patina overall. Superbly executed games scenes with deer, wolves, foxes and rabbits with gold inlays. Strong locks and tight on the face.
This is an early pinfire German game gun exquily finished and in a superb condition not often encountered.
