I call this rifle the ( Standing Rock ). I purchsed this rifle in about 1985 from a friend of mine whom ranches close  to and on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation in northern South Dakota close to the Missouri River, and the North Dakota border, and within a 30 minute drive of where Sitting Bull's grave is. . He inherited several rifles from his grandfather whom homesteaded in that area in the 1880's era. My friend told me his grandfather had was in the habit of buying guns from the Native Americans whom were issued guns to hunt game, after they were settled on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation. The origin of this firearm, was probably issued to the 8th US Cavalry, then upon or toward the decommissioning of Ft. Yates in 1903 it was probably sold or given to the Native Americans.  The Native Americans however with all or most of the bison and other game gone or overrun with domestic beef had no use for firearms thus sold or traded them just to survive.
Now is your chance to own a true real piece of Americania in its pristine original condition. The condition of this firearm is as such as if well maintained (cleaned and oiled) as it has been with my friends grandfather's care for 80 some years will last another 100 plus years or longer,  in its existing condition.
Thank you.
