Scott & Son, 78 Shaftesbury Avenue, London, England: A W & C Scott & Son 12 Bore Bar Action Sidelock Ejector Made 1899, It is with 30" Steel Ejector Dovetail Lump barrels (Marked Special Steel, B.) with rib extension crossbolt as "Scott's Improved Bolt" and so marked, The bores at .733 .003 & .020" (Skt. I & Mod.), 2 3/4" chambers, Wall thickness on the right barrel at .036" and .0375" on the left barrel, Birmingham black powder proof but I can assure you it will pass modern proof with flying colors, If this gun would have been made a few years later it would be nitro proof, Double triggers, Splinter forend, A very open Pistol grip stock at 14 1/8 x 1 5/8 x 2" and 2 7/8" drop at the heel over a horn buttplate, 7 lbs. 2 oz., 92% coverage of very nice scroll engraving on the frame, locks, forend metal, top tang, trigger guard and on the barrels at the breech, A pretty decent stick of wood with nice color and contrast, I am almost positive the barrels have original blue at 84-86%, The original case colors are still at 45%, The wood both fore & aft is very stout and remains at near 90% with oil added but no appearance it has been sanded, The checkering remains at 85%, It has a pretty decent leather trunk with no accessories. This is a very nice stout Sidelock Ejector that will handle modern light loads with ease. SOLD Antique: Yes |
