The clandestine brother of the more famous "Liberator" .45 caliber pistol "The gun to get a gun" that was made for use by guerillas and underground against the Axis forces.
It's one of only two I have ever seen. I bought both of them off of a table at the Houston Gun Collectors Show many years ago. I sold the other one soon afterwards, unfortunately.
It's a 12 gauge single shot, of course.
The trigger just holds the barrel to the stock after a round is inserted in its breech. To fire it one would depress the trigger, slide the barrel forward and jerk it back, striking the primer with the fixed firing pin in the buttstock.
You will probably be the only guy in your group to own one, or even see one.
The other one I had did not have the U S Government marking but was probably made by the same company, Harrington
