Francotte Bte, A Liege: A Auguste Francotte Model 30 in 20 Bore with 2 Sets of Barrels Made in 1938 with an Original Set of 30" Ejector Rib Extension Hidden Crossbolt barrels, The second set is 26" and added by Griffin & Howe and so marked. The original 30" barrels are .632 .013 & .027" (Mod. & Full), 2 3/4" chambers opened from 2 1/2", Original bore size remains & proved at 16mm, The 26" barrels are .634 .012 & .042" (Mod. & Full), Original 2 3/4", These G&H added Krupp steel barrels are German and proved in Suhl in 1933, These German barrels need to be tightened but are serviceable as they remain, The original 30" barrels are tight on the frame, Hidden cross bolt top lock, Sideplates, Side clip action body, Double triggers, Splinter forend with an Anson release, Open pistol grip stock at 14 1/8 x 1 7/16 x 2 3/8" over a smooth butt without checkering, Cast-off for the right hand, Nice game gun weight of 5 lbs. 14 oz. with the 30" barrels & 5 lbs. 9 oz. with the 26", 98% coverage of nice scroll with 7 game birds and deep chiseled balls of the action, The butt was restocked using an excellent piece of English walnut with excellent color and contrast, Horn grip cap, The forend wood is original, It has 2 locking screws for key screws, The frame & sideplates have been recolor hardened and remains now at 99% case colors, The barrel blue is original at 94%, The 26" barrels at 95%, The stock finish is at 95%, The checkering remains at 98%, Both barrels inside & out are excellent and totally free of pits or blemishes. It is tight to the face with the 30" barrels and the 26" barrels need some attention but can be shot as is. The whole is cased in a brass cornered leather trunk.
