London: A Very Nice & Rare Westley (1/2 Double Rifle) 22 Hornet Tip Down Break Open Toplever Single Shot, The action with double underlugs and double bite; It has a 25" octagon barrel that is sleeved, most likely by Westley, as this piece was found in Westley's back room and then nitro proved in 1951, A Ground Hog hunter convinced Westley to make him a varmint rifle, No open sights, Parker-Hale scope bases that can be used with modern scope rings, Bushed striker, Top tang safety, Scalloped action, A very nice stock with a shadowline cheekpiece, Slight monte carlo comb, 9 1/2" beavertail forend with a Deeley & Edge release set-up for varmint shooting, Extended trigger guard tang to the horn grip cap, 14 1/16" LOP over a checkered butt, 5 lbs. 13 oz., 85% coverage of classic Westley style scroll engraving, The engraving is as sharp as the day it was cut, Nice wood figure with fiddleback, This piece retains 98% original barrel blue, It has 97% original case colors, The original wood finish in 96-97% condition with very light handling marks, The checkering remains at 99%, Every screw inside & out is north & south & they remain at 99%, The bore is excellent plus, It is an accurate rifle with the typical 45 grain bullets.
