Description:
Boss, London. Exceptionally rare 12ga. O/U game gun weighing only 6 1/4 Lbs., ca. 1927 Exceptionally rare, light weight, 12ga. O/U game gun completed by Boss for an American client in 1927. Specified in the original 1927 order book to be made, “as light as possible - about 6 ½ Lbs.”, this magnificent little gun tips the scales at just 6 ¼ Lbs. making it the lightest 12ga. O/U gun I have seen by any of the finest English makers. Stock Dimensions: 14 5/8”x 1 ½”x 2 1/8”x 1/8” cast-off. Superb 27” steel barrels, retaining 95% of the original brilliant black finish, have 2 ¾” chambers and mint bores (.730”/.730”), choked cyl./special cyl., with minimum wall thickness .030”/.030”. Beautifully engraved action body and locks retain most of the original hardening colors. Original, highly figured, straight-grip walnut stock with checkered butt and splinter forend all in fine condition with crisp, unretouched, checkering. Originally supplied by Boss with a single trigger, this gun was expertly converted to double trigger shortly thereafter. Overall in exceptionally fine condition throughout with an original “light weight” period LOM case most likely supplied by A & F. You would be hard pressed to find a better light weight British O/U game gun by any maker.
