Description:
This bayonet shows "GR" under crown, 8-18 date with "C-broad arrow between and "Vickers" stamping on ricasso. back shows broad arrow, bend test and three inspectors' markings. Pommel is also C broad arrow marked. This comes in a type II scabbard marked "AO" on chape wearing a pattern 1915 infantry equipment belt frog marked "H Carson Ltd Ottawa" on strap, "The Adams MFG Co Toronto 1916" on body, and C broad arrow on loop. Back shows "FSL" and light "1 23" marking. Frog has correct copper rivets and brass buckle. Bayonet is very good with cleaned blade showing scratches, light oxidation spots on guard and pommel, and sound grips showing inspector's marks with impact marks and scratches, a chip on right grip and added finish. Scabbard shows black paint on chape, leather is still strong with indistinct stamping by seam. Frog shows wear similar to scabbard, is still supple and has nice patina on copper and brass parts. A very good Canadian Vickers P1907 with a new less than common frog.
