Serial numbered in the 158xxx range and according to the Sharps records (page copy included), it was shipped in 1877. As can easily be seen in the many photos below (and more available by email, if desired), this scarce and VERY desirable rifle has been totally restored by a Sharps professional some years ago, and was then used by a former owner to hunt with in Africa in the 1980s. At first this appears to be a Target Model 1874 because of the pistol grip and other features, but in reality since it has double set triggers, it is a Sporting Rifle with several deluxe features (pistol grip, checking, half-octagon barrel, and Vernier sight). Overall condition is Excellent+++ and had this been the original finish, this would easily be a $30,000-35,000 gun …but being refinished, it is a screaming good value and can be a great shooter at the same time (although one should probably have a chiropractor on speed dial to re-work your shoulder back into position after shooting this cannon!) A VERY beautiful and scarce rifle! Was $9750 ...now $8995 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Antique: Yes |
