Description:
#CF A005, Champlin Firearms Inc. 460 Weatherby Magnum Built on a Great Brevex Magnum Mauser Length Action with a 24” barrel with four machined integral features. A solid barrel blank & then turned and profiled with an integral rear sight island, integral front ramp, integral barrel sling stud and an integral barrel tiedown lug. All with a nice barrel taper and one machined solid standing rear sight. None of that will ever move-come loose-get out of position-get knocked around or fall on the ground. Model 70 type wing safety with a Canjar trigger, Belly magazine with a hinged floorplate and center bow release, Jeweled bolt & follower, Then a very properly installed Griffin & Howe double lever quick detachable side mount with a Zeiss 1.5x 4.5 1” scope, 9 lbs. 15 oz. without scope and 11 lbs. 1 oz. with scope, 13 7/8” L.O.P. over a leather covered 7/8” pad, American Classic style stock in tough straight grain European Walnut done by the late Champlin stocker Maurice Ottmar with full wrap around point pattern checkering, Ebony forend tip, Double cross bolts with ebony plugs to cover, Jerry Fisher steel grip cap, Double screw tiedown rear sling stud, Neat shadowline cheekpiece, The piece remains totally original as Champlin built it with 98% blue, the stock is 95% with typical & honest hunting marks and the checkering is 96%. The bore is as new and the gun is ready to go back to Africa. We built this piece as a pure Classic with no apologies for a true rifleman as he wanted it to be tough, good looking, do the job forever and a treasure to last the rest of his life. This, my friends, is one damn tough rifle that has every feature for a true rifleman with no apologies. I am personally proud that this tough SOB came out of our shop by two fine gun people, Bill Rinie & Maurice Ottmar. You could not get this rifle built today for twice the money. That barrel alone is nearly $5K. It takes a lot of hours to profile all those integral features with a taper out of one hunk of barrel blank. With all the machined integral features it will never come apart. This piece will always remain a treasure and will not fall apart when shooting or hunting with this diesel tough gun. You can load it to 458 Win., 458 Lott or go full out as a 460 Weatherby. How can one pick up a Weatherby made 460 and even begin to think about hauling it off to Africa? I am proud we made this rifle.
