Description: George Woodbridge who illustrated "American Military Equipage, 1851-1872" by Frederick Todd, 1974, published by the Company of Military Historians. This painting was done with ink and watercolors and is the original of the illustration of the "Sergeant, 1st Regiment, Connecticut Militia," plate XI from Todd's book. It is larger than the reproduced copy in the book, measuring 9 x 14 inches whereas the book version was reduced to about 6 x 9 inches. Interestingly, the colors are somewhat different with the original uniform color being more gray while the book version a deeper blue. The colors in the original are vibrant and appear un-faded. It has been professionally framed and bears the signature of the artist. A truly unique opportunity to own an original work of art of this highly respected artist and a classic reference source for student of the Civil War.
