Description:
This fine sword features a 29 1/2 inch, single fullered blade with 13 inch false edge, decorated on both sides with etched flower clusters, one with a cannon. Top third of blade is blued, ending in decorative scroll. The carved bone grips have a small chip on reverse and are mounted with a brass ferrule separating grip from crossguard. Convex backstrap runs past grips into an eaglehead pommel with rivet at rear of head. The very plain reverse P knuckleguard has been altered, perhaps in combat (ouch) and ends under eagle beak. Single quillon wears disk finial, is decorated with shield langets, obverse showing eagle with federal shield, vines and arrows. Reverse is plain. All hilt parts are brass and show remnants of silver plating. Simple silver plated brass scabbard wears a decorated stud, two simple rings and decorative finial at tip. Scabbard retains 35% silver plating and has three small dents. The blade shows 30% blue with light stains. This is a high quality sword with a great look that will enhance any sword collection.
