Description:
This is a handsome brown leather flap holster that will fit a .38 caliber revolver with barrels up to 6" in length and has a simple tooled decorative border and brass closure stud. The leather is lightly flaked, mostly at the tip and on the flex point of the flap, and has mild crazing throughout the surface. The leather is still supple and intact, although there are some small breaks along the edges of the cover, and the single belt loop on the reverse is in fine shape. The back of the holster has a crisp "WM. READ & SONS/PAT'D MAY 5, 1886/BOSTON" stamp as well. This is a handsome and well preserved late 19th or early 20th century holster and would make a nice companion to a fine period Smith & Wesson or Colt revolver.
