Serial# 8xxx, circa 1890's. Beautiful German O/U combo 16x 8x72R with rib signed,"J. E. WANDERER-UNTER REICHENAU.", 27.5" barrels with full rib, exc bores, integral ramp frt sight and 1 standing & 1 fldg rear. Receiver & locks w/ cocking indicators have deep relief engraving with Red & Roe deer, bold scrolls and vines, 4 bullet trap with engraved stag. Mounted with a 4x36 Hertel & Reuss scope in QD Talley rings. Excellent, very nicely figured cheekpiece wood, crisp extensive checkering, unusual and distinctive fore end tip treatment, horn TG, grip cap and basket weave BP, small MOP inlays at the comb nose and tear drops, vacant silver oval & sling swivels, excellent screws.
