Description:
This revolver is SN 272183 with a bright, excellent bore in the 5" barrel. The back strap shows the marking A.P.P. No 41 (Alberta Provincial Police). See marking for issue #43 on page 56 of "Arms and Accouterments of the RCMP" by Don Klancher See also page 57, photo 116 & 117. This piece is MP (RCMP) marked on the butt and the left frame under the grip panel. The 5" barrel was fitted and numbered by the RCMP following the takeover of weapons from the A.P.P. See the above reference. This piece retains 95% blue and case color, import marked. One of these revolvers provides the RCMP collector the next best example of an RCMP 38 Smith & Wesson that is available. The model 10 revolvers with the 5" barrel were not surplused. Some of these early pieces were sold at an earlier date. A scarce item for the RCMP or the S&W collector. This piece rides in a late RCMP holster designed for the 5" S&W. FFL or C&R
