#133383, J.P. Sauer & Son Made in Prussia: A Sauer Model 40 Boxlock Ejector 12 Bore Game Gun with Full Coverage Model 40 Game Scene Engraving. It has 30" Krupp Shoe Lump barrels with a rib extension cross bolt, The barrels at .728" with 4 each Briley screw chokes at .007 - .007 - .014 & .024" (Skt.I - Skt.I - Skt.II & Tight Mod.), 2 3/4" chambers, Forcing cones opened, Wall thickness on the right & left barrel at .037", Side clip action body, Scalloped frame, Intercepting safety sears, 2 each locking screws on key screws, Double triggers, Splinter forend with a Deeley & Edge type release, Horn tip on the forend, Checkered side panels, Open pistol grip stock at 15 x 1 1/2 x 2 1/2" over a 1" pad, Very slight cast-off for the right hand, 7 lbs. 9 oz., 99% period Model 40 engraving coverage with a game scene on both sides and the bottom on a case color hardened frame, The barrels have original black & remain at 85%, 10% original case colors but a nice patina remains, The stock with the original oil finish & remains at 82-84%, The checkering is original & at 94%. The bores remain excellent and not quite excellent plus but are bright & shiny. The stock escutcheon is without initials. Every screw remains north & south including inside the forend. It remains in very good plus to excellent mechanical condition. Here is Sauer Quality from the great Prussian era with all the touch, style, grace and workmanship of that great period.
