Description:
This is an attractive pair of vertically oriented paintings housed in 10" x 16 5/8" frames depicting Scottish regiment officers in distinctive dress. The first shows an officer in scarlet jacket with trews, baldrick, drawn sword, sash, medals, and plumed Lowland bonnet. He is rendered in ink with watercolor washes without background on heavy stock archival paper. The second painting was executed by the same hand with identical materials and depicts an officer in identical trews but wearing a white stand collar jacket and plumed white sun helmet. The frames are well-made and have Pelham, NY framer's labels on the still sealed backs. This is a fine and attractive pair of paintings and would make a great decorative addition to a gun room or study.
