Description:
This knife is marked "Sanderson Brothers & Newbould Sheffield" on ricasso; the opposite side is marked "B". The blade is quite sharp with scratches from use and some scattered staining; the leather washer is still intact. The oval shaped handguard shows pitting and oxidation damage on both sides; the wood grip is sound, shows many dents, dings, and a dark patina. This comes in a correct scabbard in good condition with corroded surface under a dark patina. A very rare WWI commando knife, made in England for Belgian Forces after Germany had captured Belgium. Ref: "The Military Knife & Bayonet" by Homer Brett; page 60.
