There were 200,500 of these made of which 127,156 were acquired by the US Government for the Civil War. This Martial gun was made in 1863, right in the middle of the conflict. SN 104453 All numbers match except the wedge which is numbered 4692. All markings are very clear except the cylinder scene which is starting to get light. It is fully inspected with a "D" on the backstrap and triggerguard, a "GG" on the left side of the barrel, and a "B" on the cylinder. The metel is a smooth grey with a bit of pinprick pitting on the cylinder. There is a visible cartouche on the right grip. The grips have holes cut in the butt for a period of use lanyard. See pictures.
