Description:

This is in simply outstanding condition for an 1863 Model Springfield. Both lock and barrel are stamped 1863.  The barrel is finished in the white and is smooth and uncleaned with no pitting anywhere except right at base of nipple where barrel sits at wood..  The 3 US marked barrel bands retain at least 50% of their original blue finish.  Wood is superb , nice dark reddish color and the cartouche on left side is visible but not totally readable. Triggger guard is basically clean blue brown as is US marked butt plate.  Lock and hammer have greyed out with some remains of dried grease.  Nice original rear sight and nice bore.  Gun looks like it has been there but survived in fine all original condition and was obtained in small town about 50 miles from Gettysburg.  On this, the 150th anniversary of that famous battle,  all the more fitting that this is an 1863 marked gun and such remarkable original condition.   This is standard 3-band rifle. Antique so right to your door.
