Description:

Grote moved from the East 23rd street address in early 1870's which dates this table top portable gaming table to the Civil War era.  These were made to set up on any table and were widely used in mining camps and steam boats, anywhere a game might be set up.  You can see an almost exact table in the movie Wyatt Earp with Kevin Costner.  Groate was a famous company in New York City that made gaming devices such as this an Rouletter wheels. It measures 41" in length and 17 " in width and is only 1" deep and weighs only a few pounds.  The table cards ae screened onto the green felt base with the maker card being the Ace of spade and this table predates the use of numbers on cards as well.  The painted cards are perfect as is the wood frame and there is some minor restoration to the original green felt that had some moth holes and edge wear.  I have shot it back and front so as to show the construction and aging.  An impossilbe piece of gambling history and rearely seen outside of museums.  Price includes shipping to your door.
