Description:

Item Description Winchester Model 42 sn103134- PIGEON, B CARVED WOOD, GOLD, WOW!!!

This fine little Model 42, sn103134, was started in 1951 according to the serial number stampings.  It is spectacular and as new in all ways.  The B Carved factory wood is deeply figured and as nice as you will ever see, near perfect condition.  The engraving is deep and masterful, with 13 solid gold quail inlays, 2 large setters, and tasteful wire inlays accenting the receiver.  The barrel has a wedge of engraving at the breech, and gold wire inlays at muzzle and breech.  There are initials "LC" on the left side of the receiver engravings indicating the engraver's hand.  Anyone that can shed light on who that might be, please contact us so we may know more about this artist.  The previous owner was the nephew of Senator Tom Connally's wife (of Texas), and he represented this gun (and a similar Model 12 28ga. also for sale) as guns presented to Senator Connally by Senator Byrd of Virginia.  The guns were given to the nephew after Senator Connally's passing.  A studious researcher may be able to confirm that, but for now it is a story that comes with the guns.

Detailed Description

The 28" barrel in .410 chambering retains 99.5% blue, no dings or marks, mirror bore, full choke (.018) and so marked on the barrel, solid matt rib, mid bead and red front bead, 3" chamber, clear, sharp lettering and stampings, wedge of engraving at the breech, and gold inlays at the muzzle and breech, near perfect in all ways.

The action is heavily engraved with open scroll, game scenes, gold birds and dogs, and wire inlays.  The bolt and carrier are jeweled.  There is no wear from use and all is as new.

The deeply figured walnut has 99% of its oil finish, with "B Carved" wood, perfect checkering, no cracks or repairs, superb wood to metal fit, engraved metal grip cap, all stunning in beauty and desirability.  Stock dimensions are 14 1/4" LOP to factory butt plate, 2 1/4" drop at heel, 1 1/2" drop at comb, neutral cast (can be bent to your specs within 10 days of purchase).  Just GORGEOUS!

The Winchester Model 42 is a highly collectible, investment grade gun.  The little .410 was introduced in 1932 and was discontinued in 1963, with just over 160 thousand being built.  The famous Winchester craftsmanship and attention to detail is evident in this masterpiece, and with the full choke and 3" chamber it will make a gorgeous bird gun for the field or a fine clays gun.  I have searched the market place and there is not another Model 42 that even compares to this gun with the exhibition B Carved wood and fine engraving.  Offered at an affordable price for such a fine collectible shotgun, it should make a stunning addition to your collection of fine shotguns.

There are more photos upon request. I have a 30 day mechanical warranty on this gun. PLEASE SEE MY OTHER FINE VINTAGE FIREARMS ON THIS .
