Item Description Winchester Model 12 28 gauge, sn853870 - B CARVED WOOD, 23 GOLD INLAYS, WOW!!!

What a beautiful gun we have here, with 21 solid gold quail inlays, 2 large gold setters, gold wire inlaid in receiver and breech end of barrel, 3X B Carved wood, jeweled receiver, Pigeon Grade markings on the magazine tube, and all in new condition.  The receiver was serial numbered in 1940 and the gun was upgraded after it left the factory.  Of course, there were very few 28ga. Model 12's manufactured, especially in Deluxe Pigeon grade, so it is one of the upgraded guns commonly seen offered for sale.  It was not originally shipped as a 28ga. Deluxe, but likely a 20ga. field upgraded by a master craftsman.  The gun is priced accordingly and will make the next owner a beautiful gun for field or clays.  IT IS A LOT OF GUN FOR THE MONEY.

Detailed Description

The 28" solid matte rib barrel retains 99% blue with no nicks or dings, with gold birds and wire inlaid at the breech end, double beads, excellent bore, choked Full (marked   WS-1), red front bead, clear sharp lettering, all in great condition.

The action is ornately and masterfully engraved with 23 gold inlays and tasteful gold wire outlining the engraved game scenes and open scroll, jeweled bolt and carrier, 99.5% blue and excellent screws, all in excellent mechanical condition.

The stocks are nicely figured black walnut with "B" carved wood and perfect checkering, no cracks or repairs, steel grip cap with Winchester logo, 14 1/4" LOP to factory butt plate,  2 1/2" drop at heel, 1 1/2" drop at comb, neutral cast, fine oil finish, all in excellent condition.  A gorgeous set of wood.

The gun weighs in at 7lbs. 7oz. and balances nicely between the hands.  It would make a lovely clays or field gun, and it will certainly bring visual pleasure to anyone who admires fine shotguns.
