#19227, Holland & Holland, 98 New Bond Street, London; Winners Of All The "Field" Rifle Trials, London: A Very Nice Jones Action Underlever Back-Action Rebounding Hammer 577 3" Black Powder Express Double Rifle Finished November 13, 1899, 26" steel barrels, Full length rib with 1 standing fixed rear sight, Long top strap that goes over the comb, Action inscribed "Charge 6 Drams, 3 Inch Case" (Most likely 164 grains of powder with a 591 or 598 grain bullet at 1,663 fps with 3,625 foot pounds of energy), Lever release forend, Steel engraved grip cap, Shadowline cheekpiece, Sling eyes, 15 1/16" LOP over a 1" leather pad with plugs for easy removal or replacement, 11 lbs. 13 oz. which is ideal for 577's from this period, Percussion style fences, Very well figured wood with nice color & contrast, Professional restock that has all the trappings of being done in England relative the inletting and style; 90% coverage of classic H&H scroll engraving including the hammers, top strap, lever, trigger guard, forend and grip cap, This vintage gun retains traces of original case colors, The strong point to this gun is the bores that are absolute in excellent plus condition with square rifling the entire way and not a pit anywhere, A professional reblack on the barrels and they appear unstruck and never polished, This is a good looking and extremely solid rifle in every respect from metal to wood with superb bores.
