Description:
This machete is marked (Broad Arrow) over "1945" on ricasso with "G. Butler & Co" under key design on opposite side. This type of machete is pictured on page 106 of Homer Brett's Military Knife and Bayonet book. This shows use with hammered marks on blade spine that have been smoothed on sides. Metal surfaces show a grey patina with scattered dark staining. The black bakelite grips show marks from use with no cracks or chips. Blade has been sharpened and used. The blade lock out latch is very stiff and hard to disengage.
