Description: Serial #21002, 8mm Mauser (.318" J cartridge), 22 1/2" barrel with a fine, bright bore that has trace amounts of freckling within the grooves. This is a handsome rifle built with many popular continental features: full Mannlicher - style stock (wedge fastened), flat receiver side panels, flat "butter knife" bolt handle, two - piece claw mount scope bases, raised matted barrel rib, horn triggerguard, double - set triggers, and a rounded shadowline cheek - piece. The metal retains 90 - 92% of its original blue finish which has silvered along the raised edges as well as on the bearing surfaces of the bolt. The receiver and floorplate / triggerguard assembly have a simple checkerboard engraving motif with some minor freckling around the edges of the bolt handle as well as a missing screw just ahead of the floorplate. The walnut stock is in fine condition with scattered minor handling marks and small blemishes in the original varnish and some mild flattening of the checkering points on the pistol grip and forend. The horn buttplate has a carved basket weave pattern while the grip cap has a sunburst pattern and exhibit only light wear without any large chips or blemishes present. This is a well made hunting rifle, built in the classic German tradition and in fine overall condition.
