Description:
Serial #18601, .22 RF, 2 1/4" barrel with a good bore that has dark spots of freckling along its length. This is a handsome little revolver, made in 1876, that has 90-95% of the original nickel remaining that has flaked lightly at the muzzle and along the left side of the barrel. The revolver has an unusual period engraving motif that combines New York style floral scrollwork with Merwin, Hulbert & Co. style punch dots and geometric designs. The grips are genuine bone without any chips or cracks and have developed a pleasant caramel colored age toning over time. The mechanism is partially functional but the cylinder turns only with gravity so it most likely needs a hand spring. This is a very nice looking engraved New Line that would make a fine addition to any collection. Antique
