The stock is dated 1891. The wood has a few storage marks. There are no cracks or splits on the stock. The varnish is intact and the government marks and inspection stamps are clear and easy to read. The rod bayonet is original and in clean condition. The blueing is about 96% condition. The color case on the breech block and tang is visible. The bore is bright and clean. The trap door in the butt plate has the original tools as issued. Consisting of the model 1879 combination tool, the wiping tip and the model 1882 headless shell extractor. The musket also has the original sight hood protector. The action works correctly with no problems. This musket is in it's original as issued condition. These model 1888 rod bayonet models are not often seen in nice original condition. Would look great in any collection! Search for Harry Viezens on google. Antique BEEE
