Description:

Winchester Model 70 full custom by Mr. Winston Elrod with all metal work by Mr. Rick Stickley in .416 Remington built on a Pre-64 Model 70 action with re-shaped top tang. Double Square Bridge bases utilizing Stickley custom lever release rings with spring detent sqare bridge caps when scope not utilized. Custom checkered bolt release. Blackburn drop box bottom metal. Jerome Glim bolt handle with four checkered tear drop panels and engraved tip. All integral feature barrel with banded ramp front sight with pop up night sight, banded sling swivel, barrel recoil lug, and quarter rib all machined from a single piece of metal. Stocked in dense straight grain English Walnut in American Classic style with shadow line cheek piece, point pattern 26 LPI checkering with mullered borders, and ebony forend tip. Steel pistol grip cap and two screw inletted rear sling swivel stud. 13 3/4" LOP to a London Guns pad with widows peak. 9lb 14oz without scope. This is an outstanding piece and remains new from the makers. The rear sight has not been filed in. Mr. Elrod of Chesaning, MI has been making custom stocks for over 40 years. Mr. Stickley, unfortunately, is no longer in the gun industry. He worked for a number of years for John Bolliger of Mountain Riflery and did many of the integral barrels and ring systems seen on Bolliger rifles. You won't find an integral feature barrel at the local hardware store. They are rock solid and will not have anything come loose or fall off in the field. Mr. Stickley machined these by hand with lathe and milling machine. The are not CNC pieces. This gun represents the epitomy of American custom rifle building. It remains in new condition. It is a big brother to the .338 Win Mag that is also listed. Talk about a first class pair for African big game!
