Payment Types Accepted: Credit Card, Cashiers Check Description: These are often called Pre War Post War Colts in that many of the parts are pre war left over parts. The very first post war .38 Super left the factory on June 1, 1950 (Sheldon Book on .38 Super) This example was made in 1947 as well. It features the Pre War checkered hammer, trigger and slide stop but has a serrated post war back strap. It features the new Non Glare finish as seen in advertisements and on the box tops of early post war Colt 1911's which, in essence, is the type of finish used up to and including the Series 70 Models with the sandblasted dull finish on top of the barrel rather than the full high polish blue as found on pre war models. This finish is carried thru on the frame except for the sides which were high polished. It has the fat barrel, the leftover WW11 grips and the early post war slide markings. These are actually much scarcer than the pre war models. It has the proper era marked clip as well. Pistol retains almost all of the high polish finish on sides of slide. Most of the wear is on the grip straps which are turning gun metal color. Mint bore and action. Nice early post war first year of issue .38 super. PS, the smudge you see on left end of slide is simply oil and fingerprint smudge, blueing is perfectSOLD Manufacturer: Colt Model: 1911 Serial Number: 55204 Caliber Info: 38 super Bore Condition: mint Finish: blue Manufacture Date: 1947 |
