Payment Types Accepted: Credit Card, Cashiers Check Description: Having never seen this style of butt marked Wells Fargo and never in an American model, We contacted Smith guru David Carroll who contacted Charles Pate who wrote the Smith & Wesson American Model Book. Conclusion, marking on butt genuine and original , style different than the typical Schofields and never seen in an American but most likely done at the remote Wells Fargo office at the time. That said , it is a typlical 2nd model American with a 5 1/8"" bobbed barrel and the Wells Fargo stamp on bottom of butt with no Fargo number. Gun locks up tight as new and bore is excellent with some minor pitting but strong as new lands. Finish is basically patina with some nice flashes of original high polish blue in hidden and protected areas. NO FFL needed as this gun was made circa 1872-74. A true old west rarity with some historical significance. In addition to the rare gun, there is a cut down period cavalry rig that includes cut down holster and original belt dating to Indian Wars. All original and in excellent condition.
