This Ithaca NY made Lefever Nitro Special needs a fair amount of attention in order to be returned to top condition. A hint of looseness in the closed action is much more pronounced with the forend removed. Some screws appear to have been replaced, the recoil pad, while decades old, is definitely a replacement for the original and the wood refinishing can be most charitably described as amateurish.

Metal Condition: Barrel bluing mostly intact, with some scattered dings, scuffs and scratches. Some flaring of the outside edge of the left barrel apparently due to contact with a hard surface. Receiver case colors have been replaced by gray/brown patina.
Wood Condition: Both stock and forend have been heavily sanded and refinished so that the checkering appears to have been drawn onto the wood surfaces. Evidence of sanding with coarse grit paper is highly-visible in several areas.
