Description:
FRENCH 18TH CENTURY FLINTLOCK PISTOL FOR THE OTTOMAN TRADE. 15” o/a with 8 ½” round barrel with very handsome high relief Ottoman style “STAND OF FLAGS” at the breech and a relief “OPEN TULIP” motif at the muzzle. Full length stock and brass mounts. Typical small decorative ramrod which appears to be of bone. Engraved lock signed “AUNONO” (?). Original flint with all the original lock parts and in perfect working order. Metal with dark patina. Very nice wood with the original dark finish. Typical product of the French gun trade for the Mid Eastern market largely centered at Istanbul. Nice example.
