Description:
John Knubley was a very respected Sword and Gun Maker to the Royal Family from 1770-1795. First in Otly (Otley), Yorkshire (1766-1771) and then 11 Charing Cross, London(1771-1793) and 7 Charing Cross, London (1794 until his death in 1795). Samuel Brunn and later joined by John Mallet continued the business with Knubleyâ??s widow until Brunn ceased trading in 1820. This double flint fowler is a circa 1770 22 bore. It went through a major restoration project that included barrel reconditioning, browning, and re=engraving, stock restoration , and action restoration. Peter Dyson of England restored the locks (the safeties were deactivated) at a cost of over $1700 in 2009. The gun remains un-fired after major restoration. The gun has won many awards at the annual Calif SXS gathering. What I like about this gun is the very shootable stock dimensions. This gun was made for wing shooting! Do look at the picture of the inside of the lock as they are works of art.
