N. Guyot Best Grade -- Serial Number 12431 -- Sidelock -- 12 bore -- 2-5/8" Chambers -- 27-3/4" (705 mm) barrel length -- Chokes: .014" (Light mod) and .046" (Full) -- Weight: 6 lbs. 7.5 oz. -- LOP: 14-11/16" -- Drops: 1-1/4" / 2-1/2" -- 3/8" cast off (right hand shooter). -- Shell Ejectors with Double Triggers ans automatic resetting safety. The N. Guyot is commonly refered to as the "French Purdey". This fine Side Lock double is in very good condition. Retaining nearly all of its case coloring on the finely engraved frame and plates. The areas of noticable wear to the case colors are on the upper tang around the safety button and on the sharper edges of the lower frame sculpting. The Bores in the gun are perfect mirror. No pitting or dents. The forcing cones have been lengthened some. The bore measurements are as follows: Right barrel starts at .746 and tapers to .735 before choke starts and Left barrel starts at .748 tapering to .727 before choke starts.  The barrel wall thickness measures as follows:  The thinnest point in both tubes is 16-17" from the breech.  Thicknesses are between .021" and .023" in different locations in the tubes at that interval.  Going towards the muzzle, they are both running .030" to .040" before the chokes.  And back by the breech the measurements ramp up nicely.  The thickness at the forend loop in both tubes is around .060" to .065" and going up continuing to the breech. The barrel bluing is in good overall condition with some noticable thinning by the breech. There are other various light scuffs and marks in the bluing with wear also at the muzzles. The Wood on the gun is perfect fit around all metal. There is various handling marks in the wood. Some marking in the checkering and some dents back by the buttplate on the sides. The buttplate is in fine condition with no damage. All screws are perectly timed and their thin slots are not messed up.
