Description:
A rare Ballard /Merrimack shotgun 16ga. The Sn on top of the barrel is 19656, on the 30" barrel with a front bead sight. Bore has mild to moderate pitting, and the choke is MOD . this could be end of production made shotgun or converted for prison guard use.Action is good, and dropping block has the firing pin slot filled for a rim fire hammer, and the hammer converted to fire a breech block firing pin. Right side of frame has clear markings; MERRIMACK ARMS & MFG. Co.NEWBURYPORT , MASS.The shell extractor is a finger at the base of the forend near the breech. Hammer has stamped on side: patented Jan 5 1864?Walnut stocks are good with added finish, and two studs in the grips area on the right side , been there long time.Has a steel butt-plate.Outside metal is smooth grey brown .
