Description:
Serial #480956, .30-06, 24" barrel with a fine bore that has some minor freckling within the grooves, heaviest at the muzzle. This is a 1911 manufactured rifle that has a 4-11 dated "SA" barrel and retains about 90% of the original blue on the receiver and barrel with some mild silvering at the muzzle and some further gray fading with subtle specks of freckling along the top radius and rear of the receiver. Some further fading is present on the bearing surfaces of the bolt body and on the handle. The safety is a later replacement and has all sans-serif letters but does match the overall condition of the rifle (the correct safety for this serial number should have a sans-serif "READY" and serif "SAFE"). The walnut stock and handguard have an excellent added varnish over lightly sanded wood that has left the "J.F.C.", cartouche still quite crisp and clear. There are some scattered minor handling marks and blemishes throughout but they are very mild and do not detract from the otherwise excellent wood. An original sheet metal front sight hood and an olive green canvas M1 sling in excellent condition are also included. This is a fine-near excellent '03 that would make a great addition to any collection. FFL or C&R
