Very Unusual Prototype Underhammer rifle. This unusual underhammer rifle was manufactured by C.B. Allen for H&C Daniels of Chester, Connecticut. The top of the receiver is equipped with a hinged door similar to a Cochran with a removable steel chamber with a percussion nipple. It is presumed the person using this gun would have several of these chambers in order to reload quickly. The latch for the door also services as an additional rear sight. The top of the door is marked ""H & C DANIELS / PATENT / CHESTER / CONN"" at the breech and eagle over ""C.B. Allen"" in the center. Very interesting and unusual piece!
