Description:
Serial #15473, 12 Ga. (2 3/4?) and .30-06, 24 1/4? barrels with excellent, bright bores. This is a handsome East German-made drilling that was manufactured for the U.S. market and retains nearly all of the original blue finish on the barrels, lever, and trigger guard with the coin finished receiver having nicely engraved stag and duck motifs framed by geometric and floral scrollwork designs. The gun features side clips, a Greener cross-bolt, Greener safety on the left side just behind the frame, fixed claw mounts on the barrel rib, and automatic flip-up rear sight leaf. Extensive GDR proofs (including the ?1/Q? First Quality stamp) are present throughout. The checkered walnut forend and pistol grip buttstock with continental style rounded cheek-piece are in fine condition with only minor handling marks scattered about and only some very minor flattening of the points. The LOP is 14 3/4? to a dark brown rubber recoil pad with drops of 1 5/8? and 3? respectively and the right shotgun tube is currently equipped with a sub-caliber adapter for shooting .22 LR cartridges. A ?WEST GERMANY? marked Zeiss 2.5-10x52 Diavari-Z scope with crystal clear optics, No. 4 reticle, lens covers, and brown vinyl carrier is included. The gun is housed in a brown leather, triple compartment traveling case with olive green baize lining and two lockable brass clasps. The case is in fine shape with some minor scuffing to the exterior and a small amount of crazing on the otherwise fine and serviceable security straps. This is a fantastic Simson drilling, perfectly chambered for North American hunting, and is in excellent overall condition. FFL
