This one has undoubtedly seen its share of action. Originally a flintlock it was converted (probably by a military arsenal) to the percussion system. The walnut wood on this massive pistol is in very good condition. The barrel is dark as is the lock. The military regiment number is engraved on the trigger guard and reads"G.R.IV.24". The trigger guard is brass as is the butt cap and barrel band. The action is strong but not consistent and needs adjustment ( if you plan on holding up a bank). The barrel is 9 1/2" long and the overall length of the pistol is 15 1/2". There is a front and rear sight with no visible markings or proof marks. I did not check under the barrel however. Probably made in the late 1700's. A nice piece of military history. PRICE REDUCED SOLD Antique: Yes |
