Description:
Colt Model 1849 Pocket Revolver - Cal. .31 - 4" Bbl. - SN 186XXX (1861) - all matching numbers, including wedge. Near perfect bore and excellent action with perfect timing and lock-up. Metal is excellent overall with no corrosion or pitting and with excellent markings, nipples, and screws - couple of small discolored areas on barrel which retains 90% blue - cylinder has 80% blue with some thinning - very sharp and crisp cylinder scene - some fading case color remains on the frame and loading lever - about 50% silver remains on guard and backstrap. Walnut grips are excellent with only modest wear and 85% finish - right grip has a very small chip at the lower front bottom. A very crisp and all original early 1849 Pocket with the desirable Hartford address and an extraordinarily sharp cylinder scene in excellent or better condition. Many  of these early Colts went South at about the time the Civil War started and were a popular sidearm among Confederate troops. A fine addition to a Civil War collection.
